F E E L S L I KE . . . • No more crutches! I am walking without crutches. Set my first few very small steps yesterday and am walking in very small steps without crutches today. (And I mean walking with very small steps, with a stiff ankle. But I can do it without crutches! - My 2nd marathon in 2017 Rotterdam was such a great feeling. It was a tough marathon in my home town on a very warm day. And it meant I wasn’t a marathon one-timer. It meant I was in this for good... I also remember that I couldn’t stop crying when I finished. So many emotions just poured out. And I sort of feel like that now. Happy, Sad, Optimistic, Vulnerable. A week ago I was running 20km on this spot. Today

A week ago I was running 20km on this spot. Today I was there again, but this time in a wheelchair. The world has flipped upside down and it is taking some adjusting, physically and emotionally. I’m also pretty tired as my body is recovering. I’ll have surgery to get a pin in my leg to fix the bone and to fix the torn ligaments on March 2nd. When you break something it hurts and is always un

When you break something it hurts and is always unexpected. It hurts physically and emotionally. And it needs to mended and fixed. It will take time and that is something that is a challenge for me as I’m pretty impatient. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk again somewhere in April. Today the disappointment of not being able to do what I wanted is what I feel. No @2oceansmarathon for me this year. Tomorrow I will focus with clarity on my recovery. First stop is surgery to fix my bones and torn ankle ligaments. I will post some old pictures in the coming weeks and keep you updated on progress and recovery. A week ago I was running 20km on this spot. Today I was there again, but this time in a wheelchair. The world has flipped upside down and it is taking some adjusting, physically and emotionally. I’m also pretty tired as my body is recovering. I’ll have surgery to get a pin in my leg to fix the bone and to fix the torn ligaments on March 2nd. When you break something it hurts and is always unexpected. It hurts physically and emotionally. And it needs to mended and fixed. It will take time and that is something that is a challenge for me as I’m pretty impatient. Hopefully I’ll be able to walk again somewhere in April. Today the disappointment of not being able to do what I wanted is what I feel. No @2oceansmarathon for me this year. Tomorrow I will focus with clarity on my recovery. First stop is surgery to fix my bones and torn ankle ligaments. I will post some old pictures in the coming weeks and keep you updated on progress and recovery.
